FC Chairs 11_FC_red_logo 2011 Fall Campaign
Oct. 24 - Dec. 15

Aiming for 100% participation across the school!

What is the Fall Campaign?

It’s how the Woodside School Foundation (WSF) raises money to support our children’s education—and makes WES a place where a well-designed education comes to life. (Spring’s festive Grand Auction is the other WSF-sponsored fundraising initiative.).

California state funding provides only about 75% of the money Woodside School spends to deliver our kids the excellent education they receive at our community public school. The other 25% of the budget every year is paid for through private contributions raised by the Woodside School Foundation (i.e., generous donations from you—the school community) The gap between the public sources of funding and the cost of a Woodside School education is approximately $4,300 per student.

The WSF provides a single approved amount once a year to the school in response to a formal request for funding from the School Board and the Administration. The WSF does not determine how the money will be spent, but WSF funds help support enriched learning opportunities and classes of small sizes. Stay tuned in coming weeks for more information on how your tax-deductible donations to the WSF make a big difference to our school!

Families who donate to the Fall Campaign have a chance to win exciting raffle prizes and the grade with the highest participation earns a fun class party! We encourage everyone to participate at whatever donation level is right for each family. Mail or stop by the WSF Office (behind Wildcats) to make your donation before the campaign ends!
Unlike private school tuition, donations to the WSF are tax-deductible. We thank you for doing what you can do to ensure the high-quality education we enjoy at Woodside School.

What the Woodside School Foundation is NOT:

The School Board: The five volunteer School Board of Trustees are elected officials and they have responsibility for overseeing the school’s entire educational program, including the budget.

The PTA: This dedicated group of parents holds a host of activities for the school community (highlights from their very long list include the school directory, back-to-school barbecue, field trips, and they May Day Parade). They do not raise funds to support the school budget.

2010 Fall Campaign Shows WE Can!
The joy on campus was palpable when both the 2nd and 6th grades celebrated their tie for first place with 95% participation in the Fall Campaign. Overall, we surpassed the previous year with a terrific 82% participation—and we met our goal. We are indebted to campaign co-chairs Gina Baldwin (above, left) and Jeanne Connolly (above, right) for making this happen. We are grateful, too, to the faculty and staff for their 100% participation for the first time in the school’s history. Clearly we demonstrated that Together WE Can!
