The Woodside School Foundation's (WSF) mission is to provide a dependable flow of funds to supplement the budget at Woodside School. The aim is to ensure continued excellence in academic, social and cultural programs at the school. The Foundation raises this financial support from, and is accountable to, the parents and the wider community. It is the intention of the Foundation to support the School Board and the Administration to ensure the donations are consistent with the spirit of the Woodside School strategic plan.
The Woodside School Foundation helps fund the following programs:
Art Every student enjoys art class at least once/week, plus electives for middle school
Class Size Reduction Average class size at Woodside School is 18 students, significantly smaller than California state averages at 25
Curriculum Development Teachers have six days per year dedicated to curriculum development and training
Early Literacy We have academic literacy intervention programs in grades K-6 taught by two credentialed reading specialists
Global Citizen Curriculum We have counseling, life skills, Tribes, the Middle School Advisory Program and the WES community service program - all helping our kids to be better global citizens
Librarian Our librarian meets with K-6 students every week
Music Programs Children learn to read and write music, sing and play instruments
Outdoor Education WES inspires kids with hands-on outdoor experiences such as the Marin Headlands and Yosemite trips
Performing Arts Every class has at least one performance each year to proudly showcase their talents
Physical Education 3x/week, students learn to improve their quality of life through activity
Science A high-quality science program, taught with the award-winning Foss and CPO Science curricula, instills a love of learning
Spanish Children are exposed to a foreign language and culture starting in 4th grade
Technology All students have access to laptops, digital cameras and SMART Boards in their classrooms. Our state-of-the-art technology allows teachers to integrate technology across the curriculum and differentiate instruction
